‘’Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.’’
James 4:8
One thing that I have been reminded of the last week is that we have a father who wants a deep and loving relationship with us. He calls us into a relationship with Him through His son Jesus Christ. I love this promise that God will draw near to us when we draw near to Him. No matter what we are feeling, no matter where we are, we can ask Him to come and He will. We have nothing to be afraid of, for our father is loving, kind and compassionate to all who call on His name.
For a start God is relational because He sent His one and only son down to earth to die on a cross for our sins. Nothing and not one thing will ever be able to show that he is relational than through Jesus. The death of Jesus wipes out all sin and we can celebrate and live in freedom knowing that by His blood we are saved. By His blood we can be in relationship with Our heavenly father. Jesus Christ who is the son of God has reconciled us to himself for a greater purpose.
Second, relation in the dictionary means ‘the way in which two or more people or things are connected or a person who is connected by blood’. I hope you are already starting to understand where I am going with this paragraph. So, as we are connected to each other through blood, biologically. Like brothers, sisters, family members etc. We are also connected to God through His son Jesus, as it is through His blood we are reconciled to God. Being connected by blood does not just mean biologically but also spiritually, as we are able to be in a restored relationship with God. The creator of heaven and earth. How amazing and wonderful.
If you are reading this and you are not sure how you feel about it or maybe you don't understand why someone would die on a cross or you may not even know anything about Jesus. One thing to help you understand how God is relational is that we are His children. We were made by Him and chosen for a purpose. To be fearfully and wonderfully made, it must inhabit relation. To make something so unique and different every time must have some sort of loving intention.
Just like we make things and take our time with it. We carefully put it together to make sure that it's all how we want it. Hence, God did for us too. He put everything where He wanted it to go. He placed you where you are now for His beautiful purpose. Nothing with God is temporary when it comes to design, it is fixed. He knows you because He made you. That for me is why I love God, He is a father who wants a relationship with you, who made you so intricately. He loves you so much. He calls us His own, and He knows exactly what we need. That my friend is relational.
Can I tell you something?
No one here on earth has the ability to be as relational as Our Heavenly Father. He is divine, holy, merciful, full of grace, mighty, worthy, and He still wants to be in a relationship with YOU! We can't ever take this relation for granted. Make sure you grasp the importance of this before it's too late. Spend time in His presence because just like the bible verse says in James ‘Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.’ God is one to never let go of His promises. The promises of God never fade away.
One thing to end this blog. Last week this sentence came to my mind.
‘God can use our relationship with him to help others come into relationship to himself.’
How beautiful is that? We know that God uses us and I love how sometimes he does it without us realising. But, do not forget that whatever you are doing and wherever God has placed you. He is using you to help others to experience the light and love of Jesus. Whatever you do and whatever you say, I pray that it is exactly what the other person needs to see and hear. Jesus was compassionate and loving to every person he met and never let a person walk away without knowing He loved them.
So, let's do that for others. Maybe this week there's someone God places in your path. Ask God to use you this week and pray that whoever you come face to face with, your actions and words speak truth, love and peace into their lives. Do not take a relationship with God for granted but also do not take for granted what He can do through your relationship with Him to help others come to receive salvation.
Go on, brothers and sisters, shine your light in the darkness and shine the love of Jesus wherever you are. Be ambassadors of the light of Christ. You will not regret it when you hear the words. ‘Well done, Good and Faithful servant.’
God bless,
