For my 25th birthday I thought it would be a great idea for you, my lovely readers to get to know me a little better. Hence, why I have come up with 25 different things below.
5 great memories!
Graduation
Graduation was one of my favourite memories and is one my best achievements to date. For those who don’t know, I studied at Manchester Metropolitan University (Cheshire campus) and the course was called Early Years and Childhood Studies. I graduated with a 2.1 but was 1 mark from a first. I was gutted but have never thought I would even get a 2.1. The day of my graduation was amazing. The joy and happiness that surrounded me was so lovely. Every single person who graduated that year was filled with a little relief that the dissertations were over but also hope and excitement for the future. Class of 2018, you know who you are and I miss you dearly!
Meeting my God-daughter
I will never forget this day, I was overwhelmed with emotions when I met her for the first time. Me and Antonia have been friends since year 9 in high school and I remember when we were asked at school what we wanted to be when we grew up. I said ‘Teacher’ and Antonia said ‘Mum’. At the time, we didn't think much about it until we left school and then college and it wasn't until after we got back from Australia that she told me she had something to tell me. I knew instantly she must be pregnant or engaged and I couldnt wait to find out. Since the day she told me, I was so excited to meet this little girl. To this day it will be one of the greatest memories of mine. I will always look up to Antonia for her passion and determination to not let her dreams go. You are such an inspiration Antonia and I am very excited to meet baby number 2 in 5 weeks time!
Holiday to Australia in 2009
In 2009, we went to Sydney, Australia on holiday as my brother and sister -in-law had moved out there. Ever since this holiday Australia has always been a place I call my second home. All my friends and family know that I have been back to Australia 4 times since and hope to move out there this coming January!
My big sisters Wedding
My big sister got married in 2010 and it was such a beautiful day. This was the second time I had been a bridesmaid and it was such an honour. I will never forget the joy that filled that day! I love getting dressed-up nice and so weddings are my favourite! I know I look super young. I was 15 in this picture!
Peacock in my garden
Now this sounds ridiculous but one day when I was little we heard that a peacock had escaped from a farm not that far from our family home. In the afternoon we heard knocking on the patio doors and we thought it was really strange. We opened the blind to see a very large, very colourful peacock looking directly at us. I will never forget the shock on our faces and the anticipation of what we should do.
5 things I've learnt!
During lock down, I've learnt so much! Here are just 5 things I have been able to learn over the last 14 weeks.
How to play guitar.
I have wanted to learn how to play an instrument for years and I finally took up the courage to practise. I am so proud of myself for learning something I never thought I could. If you have anything you would like to learn then I would completely have a go because you never know what will come of it!
How to make pancakes.
I have always loved cooking and my love for pancakes has grown over the lock down period. I can now make the fluffiest, chunkiest, and dreamiest Gluten Free American Pancakes. I love mine with golden syrup or honey and fresh fruit.
To take things slowly.
I am not sure about you but I have learnt in lock down to just slow down. Before i had two jobs to try and save up for Sydney. I was super busy (so i thought) and my mind was work, work and more work. I did not stop and I thought I was fine until I got really ill and caught a virus (not Covid). Mentally I was not good and I know now that I had burnt myself out. I want to give you some advice and to take things slowly but also to be prayerful about the decisions you make. As someone who is a people person and who loves to help, it has become more aware to me that you can't say yes to everything. As much as you want to, it is just as important to make sure you are mentally and spiritually healthy.
How to plant and grow my garden.
My parents have half an acre of land and so, as a child it was wonderful to have all that space to explore and play as a child. We have a vegetable and fruit plot that has been used over the years and during lock down I have taken up helping my parents to grow all the wonderful veg and fruit and it has been so lovely learning about all the plants and things you can grow.
Just enjoy life.
Lock down has made me realise that I just need to enjoy everyday and make the most of everything I do. To have the last few months off work, it has helped me to re-focus on what is important which is to focus on myself, just as much as focusing on others.
5 random things!
Below are some things you might not know about me.
I am scared of butterflies and birds.
I am allergic to strawberry essence. (Yes, that's right just the flavouring not the actual fruit)
I love cheesecake (Gluten-Free of course)
If you know me well, then I apologise for this fact, but I love Australia! I am going to do a blog about why soon! Keep your eyes open.
