Jesus is the Greatest treasure

When something that is described as treasure, it is something that is precious. Something that is considered pure and life-giving.

Treasure, as stated in the Oxford Thesaurus means ‘something of value, riches, wealth and fortune.’

I want you to know that Jesus is the greatest treasure we will ever find because of the new life He gives us through His sacrifice on the cross. There is nothing more precious than this.

Treasures on earth are nothing compared to the salvation we have in Jesus.

Just like it says in....

Matthew 6:19-20
‘Don’t store up treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don't break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’

There are many things here on earth that can distract us from the true source of life that is in Jesus. For example, earthly treasures that we think are important such as; having a nice car, buying a big house, or buying the latest technology.

These earthly treasures are not included in our salvation and so, we must make sure we are prayerful about the decisions we make and allow Jesus to guide us to make the right decisions.

By storing up our treasures in heaven, we come to realise that nothing on earth is as rich and valuable than Jesus. We can store up treasures in heaven by reading the word, spending time with our heavenly father by praying and worshipping. When we choose to change our priorities on earth and give them over to Jesus, our reward in Heaven starts to become a reality. How beautiful is that.

2 Corinthians 4:18
‘So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.’

What we see has no value and does not make us rich. Even though you might ask, well why do we have millionaires? I am not talking about a physical richness but a spiritual richness.

When we accept Jesus Christ into our lives as our Lord and Saviour, we become rich spiritually. Because of Jesus, we receive salvation and eternal life. This is true richness. There is nothing like it. But we must focus on what we do not see, for that is the greatest gift of true life we could ever receive.

In 1 Timothy 6:19 it says;
‘storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.’

True life is in Jesus. We must make sure we set a good foundation for our future, especially storing up treasures in heaven. I hope heaven is on the top of your bucket list because both heaven and hell are real. Very real.

Therefore, we must accept Jesus into our hearts because when we do we will find the greatest treasure! And someday we will meet our beautiful saviour in Heaven and what a glorious day that will be!

I hope this blog encourages you that Jesus is waiting for you patiently and He loves you so much! God cares about you and will provide for your every need.

Much love,

God bless,

Lois (Founder of The Art Of Everyday blog.)
